15 activists (and counting) detained and at risk of torture in the #KampalaCrackdown

This morning, a Ugandan police unit known as the "Flying Squad" raided activists offices in Kampala and brutally arrested 15 youth human rights defenders, known for their nonviolent actions. These activists are now under detention, facing torture and interrogations ahead of Museveni's Monday plans to pass the Age Limit Bill, which would be a blank check for another term for current President Museveni, who has held that position since 1986.

Among the arrested are Scovia Arinaitwe, Buwembo Habib and others listed below.

The Flying Squad operation is being led by Herbert Muhangi, who is known for illegal detentions, theft and extortion. Activists were taken far outside of Kampala and are being held without clear charges against them.
